Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the treatment of the muscles and connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, and fascia) that make up your body's soft tissue system. Massage therapists can use light or very firm pressure to move, stretch, or manipulate soft tissue to improve circulation, reduce new or old pain patterns, and help your body recover after an injury. Massage therapy also helps the nervous system by providing a gentle touch to calm the nerves which is helpful during periods of stress and when sleeping has become an issue.
Student Massage Therapy
Massage therapy students currently enrolled in post-secondary education programs to become registered massage therapists. Appointments with student therapists are at a cost-effective rate and cannot be billed to insurance companies. Student massage therapists are trained to perform relaxation or therapeutic appointments, help with pain management, and suggest exercises or stretches that clients can do in between their appointments to better their health.
Acupuncture
When acupuncture needles are inserted, various physiological effects are stimulated, depending upon which acupuncture points are selected. Changes in hormones, brainwaves, muscle strength and range of motion have been measured. Functional MRI has even shown changes in active areas of the brain. Acupuncture can release tight muscles and trigger points, activate muscles that are weak or inhibited, increase blood circulation, decrease inflammation, and stimulate healing. Acupuncture needling stimulates the release of endorphins, which are often called “feel good” hormones because they create a sense of euphoria, but also because they act as natural painkillers.
Besides needling, what will my treatments consist of? We value your time, money, and individual needs. As such, we endeavor to make every
treatment as comprehensive and individually tailored to you as possible. In addition to needling, Gua Sha, Cupping or electro-acupuncture can be incorporated into your treatment.
Physiotherapy
A physiotherapist is a university-trained healthcare professional and physiotherapy is a treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient’s mobility, function, disease prevention, and well-being. Physiotherapists can start an MVA claim for patients within the first week of a car accident. Common things they treat are sports injuries, parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, tendonitis, back, shoulder, hip, knee, and neck pains, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, balance issues and headaches to name only a few.
Easy online booking is available for non-workplace related injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and dry needling sessions for new or ongoing pain management. Not sure which physiotherapy session may be right for you? Please call our office at 403-942-4010 and we'd be happy to help!
